Ranua supports residents’ well-being by offering a range of different opportunities for hobbies and leisure activities.

Library services for everyone

Library services are offered on the premises of Ranua Library as well as along the different routes served by the mobile library. Early in the morning and late in the evening, the library offers self-service access for reading magazines and newspapers, using the public access computers or checking out books and other materials. The Ranua Library is also used as a venue for various exhibitions and events.

Hit the ski trails or snowmobile routes

The hobbies and activities available in Ranua provide opportunities for learning and discovering new things.

In winter, you are welcome to explore our vast network of ski trails, with routes that extend to dozens of kilometres in the surroundings of the municipality. The ski trails are maintained by the Technical Department.

For those willing to venture deeper into the wild, Ranua has some excellent snowmobile routes to offer. To learn more about the routes, check out the snowmobile route map. You can also contact the municipality’s Park Supervisor (040 354 2700) if you want to hear more about the routes.

Room and support for youth

We offer room for young people at Monkkari 2.0 youth centre. It is a place at the centre of Ranua where young people come to spend time, meet others or participate in guided activities. They can also attend various events, such as LAN parties and disco or cooking nights, or come root for their favourite sports team on game nights.

Ranua supports the youth and offers help for their concerns and worries. Outreach youth work provides confidential help in matters that occupy young people’s minds. The youth workshop gives support with studies and work, and preventive substance abuse work educates young people on alcohol and drugs. In addition, the youth services continuously participate in various international projects.
